Overview: ProjectWise Design Integration (PWDI) fails to install when you have the Automated File Processors included to be installed. You may or may not encounter Error 1722 either in the logs or in a pop-up error message window. This document explains what could be happening and how to work around the issue.
Products and versions:
- ProjectWise Design Integration Server CONNECT edition with Automated File Processors (AFP) selected for installation.
Pre-requisites \ Assumptions \ Preliminary setup:
- MicroStation CONNECT edition needs to be installed before installing the PWDI components with AFP components.
- There is a conflict with the Licensing.Service.exe pertaining to MicroStation that causes registration to not complete for the Power Platform Processor.
- To bypass the link to the Bentley.Licensing.Service.exe, you must register MicroStation in server mode. The steps are included below.
Steps
1) Install MicroStation on the server where ProjectWise DI and the AFP processors will be installed. DO NOT ACTIVATE using Connection Client and the Activation Wizard. Instead follow the steps below taken from the link included at the end of this document.
- Open a CMD window (Run as administrator)
- Change directory to: cd C:\Program Files\Common Files\Bentley Shared\CONNECTION Client\LicService
- Type the following command and hit enter: Bentley.Licensing.ActivationWizard.Exe /headless release
- Type the following command and hit enter: Bentley.Licensing.ActivationWizard.Exe /serversetup
- The Bentley Login Client will come up
- Refer to the instructions below for logging into the “Bentley Login client”.
You will need to log in with an administrator authorized to manage your organization’s licenses.
Note: A CONNECTION Client sign-in is not necessary and should be ignored.
Use the examples below to sign into the Bentley Login Client and IGNORE the Connection Client login
After signing into the Bentley Login Client, exit the login dialog using the X in the upper right corner.
Closing the Bentley Login Client dialog will start the Activation Wizard GUI in server mode, allowing you to register the server or activate one or more server products. Be aware this dialog may open in the background behind other dialogs.
Select the 'Register Server' option and click next.
In the activation wizard in server mode, select MicroStation and the checkmark next to it to register MicroStation in Server Mode.
After successfully registering MicroStation, you should be able to install ProjectWise DI with the AFP processors with no problem.
