This wiki will describe the difference between a "bug" and an "Enhancement Idea\Request"
What is a Bug?
- A Software Bug is a failure, flaw, or error in a source code that causes a program to produce unexpected results.
- Example: When I am in ProjectWise Explore and click on Documents pull down menu and choose attributes, the scan for reference tool launches. The expected result should have been that the Attributes Menu expands.
How do I log a Bug for Bentley software?
- Enter a Service Request through the Service Request Manager for the product and describe the exact steps on how to reproduce the issue. The engineer assigned to the case will try to reproduce the issue in a test environment and if they are successful, they will log a "Bug" report on your behalf.
What is an Enhancement Idea or Request
- An Enhancement Idea is a request to provide new functionality or feature to the software program. It is good to also include a business case or reason why the enhancement would be beneficial to all.
- Example: I would like to be able to change the color scheme of the ProjectWise Interface to darkmode. This enhancement will help users who struggle with bright screens.
How do I log an Enhancement Idea or request for Bentley software?
- Bentley has implemented a portal using "Aha!" where users can log an Enhancement Idea, where other users can vote on these ideas, and Bentley Product Management and Development can review and comment as well as provide feedback and status on the idea.
