ProjectWise Orchestration Framework Service
The ProjectWise Orchestration Framework Service provides underlying services for various ProjectWise functionality including Automation Service, Distribution Service, and the Document Processors (Full Text, Thumbnails, File Properties) used with the ProjectWise Integration Server.
ProjectWise Distribution Service
The ProjectWise Distribution Service is an optional module used to render and/or distribute documents at specified times or states within the ProjectWise environment.
This module is often included when the user wishes to automate the creation of electronic plots that may be used as a deliverable or archival document.
The Distribution Service can also be used to automate the copying of documents from one ProjectWise system to another along with some of the attributes of the document (via the delivered “ProjectWise Connector”).
With the addition of Enterprise Connectors (available through Bentley Professional Services), organizations that already have an existing enterprise level document management system in place (that is not designed to manage engineering drawings) can rendition engineering documents and distribute them into the enterprise system.
ProjectWise Automation Service
ProjectWise Automation Service enables server-side processing of documents, which in turn is accomplished through the configuration and use of document processors.
Document processors can be developed and configured to perform any number of document-related tasks. One of the more common tasks performed is that of extracting information from a set of source documents and then importing the data into ProjectWise as components. As part of the process, a component index is typically generated for tracking the documents in which each component was found.
Depending on the version of Automation Service you have installed, the following document processors may be delivered
- Dynamic Composition Service processor - leverages Bentley i-model Composer to publish i-models from existing CAD documents in your datasource. The new i-model documents are stored in the same datasource.
- ProjectWise PDx Dynamic Review Service processor - leverages ProjectWise PDx Project Server to access files in a PDS project database, and then MicroStation to publish i-models from those PDS files. The new i-models are stored in ProjectWise.
- DGN Indexing processor - creates components representing the basic graphics elements found in standard 2D and 3D DGN and DWG files (for example, cells, custom line styles, levels/layers, models, and so on).
- Schematics processor - provides the capability to extract and import component-level information from domain-specific Schematics-based drawings The Schematics processor was last delivered with ProjectWise V8i (SELECTseries 2), and is no longer delivered starting with ProjectWise V8i (SELECTseries 3).
- TriForma processor - provides the capability to extract and import component-level information from domain-specific TriForma-based models, and standard 2D and 3D DGN/DWG files. The TriForma processor was last delivered with ProjectWise V8i (SELECTseries 2), and is no longer delivered starting with ProjectWise V8i (SELECTseries 3).
