Error or Warning Message

Failed to create a user.

Access denied.  You have insufficient privileges to finish this operation.

Explanation

The error is received when attempting to copy and paste a user in the ProjectWise Administrator, however the user logged in does not have full rights to modify the user settings of the new user.

How to Avoid

Option 1 Give your account access to change the administrative user settings

  1. Log out of ProjectWise Administrator, and log back in as the original ProjectWise admin (this is the only account by default with access to these settings for any user, and the only one that can give the access to any other user)

  2. Browse to the users section and find the user name who was logged in to do the copy, and open properties for that user

  3. In the settings tab, under Administrative, turn on "Allow user to change administrative settings"

  4. Log out and back in as the other user, and you should be able to copy/paste users.

Option 2 Don't copy the user settings when pasting.  Note this will give the new user the default user settings, and not the same as the user copied.

  1. When pasting user, uncheck "User settings" when prompted
