Current Revision posted to Project Delivery: Content Management Wiki by Thomas Hess on 8/4/2016 8:56:00 PM

Product(s):ProjectWise Web Server
Version(s):08.11.11.574
Area: Configurations
Original Author:Mantas Nauseda, Bentley Technical Support Group

Problem Description

Some users connected to ProjectWise Web server were not able to see the component data. However the same components are visible in ProjectWise Explorer.

Steps to Resolve

Investigating the issue found out that the Web Server was writing temporary data to C:\Windows\Temp folder and the access rights were restricting delete/create rights for the Application pool user.
Other users could see the components because the required data was already copied out for them to c:\Windowns\temp folder.

After granting full control for the Application pool user to that folder the issue was solved

 Product(s):ProjectWise Web Server Client
Original Author:Steve Boniwell, Bentley Technical Support Group

Problem

When running ProjectWise Web Server, users are presented with the following error message; "ProjectWise Web Server evaluation license has expired. Please notify System Administrator"

Solution

If there is HKEY_Current User \SOFTWARE\Bentley\Licensing\1.1\Applications listed in the registry delete everything under Licensing.

You can set up logging in the licensetool.exe.  If it is still not obtaining a license, search under Hkey_Users for Bentley\Licensing and delete anything that is found under licensing.

Then do tools, send logs now.  It should now obtain a valid license. Refresh your browser and log back in.

On the server, open IIS and change the default application pool (DefaultAppPool) Identity to NetworkService. Once that is done, perform an IISReset.

Problem Description

Properties do not display in SharePoint ProjectWise web parts

I have added the ProjectWise properties web part to my SharePoint site. When I highlight a file or folder, the properties do not appear

Steps to Resolve

  1. The ProjectWise web part for properties is not a dynamic function.. Just highlighting or clicking on the folder or file does not display the properties.

  2. In the webparts, right click the folder then choose properties, the screen will refresh and the properties of the folder will display in the properties box.

  3. Same thing for a file, right click and choose properties, the screen will refresh and the properties of the file will display in the properties box.

References do not show when opening dgn with MicroStation or Bentley view through Projectwise Website

Current Revision posted to Project Delivery: Content Management Wiki by Thomas Hess on 8/4/2016 8:58:45 PM

Product(s):ProjectWise Web View Server
Version(s):08.11.11.559

Problem Description

When I open a master file from the Projectwise web or web view site, (using MicroStation Or Bentley View) the reference files do not show in the drawing and are in red in the reference manager.

Explanation

The reason for this is that there is no ProjectWise integration available when opening files from the websites, therefore MicroStation and Bentley view do not know where to find the reference files.

Steps to Resolve

Option1:

The best solution would be to use Projectwise Publisher with Projectwise Websites to view the files. If you have Publisher installed on the server, and it is connected to the Projectwise webserver with the Projectwise Publishing gateway, then when in the Projectwise web or webview site, all the user has to do is double click the file or right click and choose view. The VPR viewer will come up and display an image of the master file with the references. There are also tools in this viewer to zoom in, plot, measure, and redline \ markup the file (that is if you are not in view mode).

Option 2:

Put the master and reference files in the same directory in Projectwise, run scan ref so that the master is now pointing to the references in the same directory. When you open the master file via the websites the reference will be found because they are in the same folder as the master

Option 3:

Add the path to each of the reference files in the ProjectWise web working directory to the workspace MS_RFDIR variable.

By default the working directory for the web client is located under the user profile: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\ProjectWise\WebWorkDir\<servername_datasourcename>\dmsxxxxx.

You would need to add the path for each individual folder that contains a reference file as the MS_RFDIR variable is not recursive.

ProjectWise Point Cloud Streaming Not Functioning Correctly

Current Revision posted to Project Delivery: Content Management Wiki by Molly Watts on 8/23/2016 3:26:29 PM

Product(s):ProjectWise Explorer Client
Version(s):08.11.11.559
Area: Open / Save / Copy / Move
Original Author:Jacquelene Smiro, Bentley Technical Support Group

Problem Description

Not sure if ProjectWise streaming Point Cloud and raster references functioning correctly.

Steps to Resolve

Please check the following:

a. On the server hosting the storage area where the point cloud or raster file is stored (either Integration server or caching server) verify the dmskrnl.cfg file to ensure that it is enabled.

b. Check PW Admin using the File Streaming node. This functions on a per datasource level.

c. Check the MIME type configured on the document, that it is set according to what was enabled in the PW admin under the file streaming node (either pointcloud or raster)

d. This is a licensed feature.

The streaming of point cloud and/or raster references can be enabled (or disabled) by your administrator in ProjectWise Administrator. Point cloud streaming and raster reference streaming are licensed features that are enabled first at the server level (through settings in the dmskrnl.cfg file -if using load balancing make sure you edit both configs), and then on a per-datasource basis using the File Streaming datasource node

When point cloud and/or raster reference streaming is enabled and a point cloud or raster reference is copied out as the result of opening the master document to which it is attached, only the portions of the file necessary to complete the view in MicroStation are downloaded. Additional portions are downloaded as necessary as the user pans and zooms. If streaming is disabled, the entire file will be downloaded when it is copied out.

***Note, Also, the entire file will always be downloaded if it is checked out, regardless of whether streaming is enabled or disabled.

If you want raster references to be copied out upon attachment instead of checked out, set the attachment as read-only in the Raster Manager dialog. Point cloud files are always copied out upon attachment.

When opening master documents that have point cloud or raster documents attached, make sure you always select to copy out (and not check out) the point cloud or raster documents.

While point cloud streaming is new in this release, raster reference streaming is not — only the way in which it gets enabled has changed (in previous versions, raster reference streaming was enabled through configuration variables in the user's mcm.cfg file).

When streaming is enabled, this field controls the minimum size that a file must be in order for it to be streamed. **Point cloud and/or raster reference files at or above the minimum file size will be streamed when copied out, and files below the minimum file size will not be streamed when copied out (the entire file will be downloaded instead). This field is disabled when Option is set to Disable streaming.

Current Revision posted to Project Delivery: Content Management Wiki by Molly Watts on 8/25/2016 2:19:33 PM

When using ProjectWise Deliverables Management integrated with your ProjectWise Design Integration environment, you likely want to take advantage of your ProjectWise attribute information. This document will go over how you can utilize that data in your Transmittals and Submittals, including:

  • Setup: Configure which attributes will be included
  • Sending Transmittals: How can I automatically include ProjectWise attribute information into an outgoing transmittal package?
  • Receiving Submittals: How can I automatically import incoming submittal document attributes into my ProjectWise datasource?
  • Modifying attributes: What do to if you need to add/remove attributes from being included in PWDM.

Configure attribute settings in ProjectWise Explorer

This is a one-time setup to make the attributes visible to ProjectWise Deliverables Management

  1. Create a global view in ProjectWise, containing all the attributes you wish to make available to Deliverables Management

2. In the PWDM settings for the project (Right click on Deliverables Management node in PW Explorer-settings) set the view in the Document’s attributes tab, and click Apply

3. Click the link at the bottom of the settings window to bring you to the Deliverables Management Portal settings for this project

4. Select Attributes, and you will see the ProjectWise Design Integration attributes synchronized

Including attribute data with the Transmittal

When creating a transmittal from ProjectWise Explorer, the attributes that are configured as part of the view are automatically included in the transmittal

Attribute values in the Cover Letter

Now that they are made available to PWDM by configuring the view, any of those attributes configured can be used in the cover letter template.

Using the syntax {$DocumentAttribute.GetValue(AttributeName)$} in the configured template will populate with the corresponding value for the PW document.

The Attribute Name should be exactly as it appears in the PWDM settings, which is the display name of the attribute, if there is one configured.

How to make the attributes available to external organizations working with you on this project

When the external organization accepts the invitation to work with you on the project, your settings (Attributes, classifications, and purposes) will automatically be configured in their project.

Note: see section below “Changing the attributes” if the settings change after the invitation is accepted.

Receiving submittal with attribute data

Now that the attributes are configured, the external organization starts a new transmittal, and when adding documents, the attributes will be available (via one-by-one or through the zip upload options in the excel template)

When you receive the package into ProjectWise Explorer, clicking acknowledge will import the documents, along with the attribute values (be sure that the configured storage location is set to the appropriate environment)

Changing the attributes

If you need to add or remove configured attributes

  1. Modify the View in ProjectWise

  2. Open the ProjectWise Explorer Deliverables Management settings for the project and click apply

Then for the external organization to pick up these changes, they will need to do the following:

  1. Have the external organization open their CONNECT project (that was created during the invitation process)

  2. In the Deliverables Management settings, select participants-External

  3. Select your Company name (the one with the attributes already configured)

4. Click the blue drop down menu, and select “copy settings”

5. Select Attributes, and the attributes will be the same as yours. (note since they might not be integrated with ProjectWise Design Integration, that column will show n/a)

Problem

The user was getting "Last error [ 58008 ] Error deleting a folder. Folder has subfolders. A folder that is a parent to other folders cannot be removed".

This user was not a member of the Administrator group.

Solution

Had user to ProjectWise Administrator - Users - user's account - Properties and then go to Settings - General and de-select the "Use access control". This allowed the user to see a subfolder containing documents underneath the folder he wanted to delete. After deleting the documents he could then delete the sub folder and the parent folder.

Issue with Bentley Connect Edition and AutoCAD 2014 Civil 3D and Civil 3D 2016 on same PC

$

Current Revision posted to Project Delivery: Content Management Wiki by Bill Kenney on 9/26/2016 2:28:44 PM

Steps to reproduce: Install the ProjectWise Connect Edition 10.00.01.28 or 10.00.01.67, and the Add in modules installed by ProjectWise Conn Edition:

Install the following Add-in Modules:

ACAD 2014   Addin module 8.11.11.863 (Which covers standard AutoCAd and AutoCAD Civil 3D)

ACAD 2015 Addin module 8.11.11.863         “                       “                             “

ACAD 2016 Addin module   8.11.11.863         “                         “                               “

Revit 2014 Addin module 8.11.11.863           “                       “                           “

Note: the above modules are all different even though they have the same version number – Must go by “Description” and version number. The errors are brought about by the ACAD 2014 and 2016 Add in modules, in particular, along with having both Civil 3D 2014 and 2016 applications installed.

Users are getting “Customization File load failed” error messages although many points of ProjectWise Integration with AutoCAD are OK, and no “ProjectWise” on the top ACAD Ribbon.

It appears there was mixing of the files in C:\Program Data\Bentley\ProjectWise\08.11\AutoCAD\Support\en and C:\Program Data\Bentley\ProjectWise\10.00\AutoCAD\Support\en

The problem is with ProjectWise CUIX files loading into AutoCAD. Issue is with C:\ProgramData\Bentley\ProjectWise folder having the 8.11 folders as well as the 10.00 folders and the files were mixed between these folders in improper form.

Workaround:

To fix this, copy files from C:\ProgramData\Bentley\ProjectWise\ 8.11 to C:\ProgramData\Bentley\ProjectWise \10.00 and vice versa (i.e. making the folders contain the same files, but no .bak files to avoid creating another issue)

Example of a file to copy idacad19_1menu.cuix representing Acad 2014

Below is a summary of the steps:

 - Uninstall all the installed AutoCAD add-ins
 - Manually clean up both ‘C:\ProgramData\Bentley\ProjectWise\08.11\AutoCAD\support\en’ and ‘C:\ProgramData\Bentley\ProjectWise\10.00\AutoCAD\support\en’ folders (remove all the files from these folders)
 - Install the AutoCAD add-ins back (Install the addins from earliest to latest in order)
 - Apply the workaround with copying files in these folders to each other
 - Launch AutoCAD Civil 3D and verify for no error messages.

Search execution error invalid search parameters internal execution error occurred

 Product(s):ProjectWise Client V8i

Problem 1

Full Text Search Error 58152
Some users are seeing this error when attempting a full text search:  "Search execution error. Either invalid search parameters were passed, or an internal execution error occurred."
pwc.log shows the following error

420 ERROR [0x0000156c] pwise.server - Error 32768 reported at func: findItemsToBuffer line: 156
420 INFO  [0x0000156c] pwise.netapi - response received, status = 32768, server session = 0
420 ERROR [0x0000156c] pwise.dms - Request 5406 return code 32768. Response size: 0

The indexing service is functioning it's just occasionally users will have this issue, and the error prompt comes up instantly after running a search.

Solution

The MS indexing service does the work for full Text searches for PW. restarting the Microsoft index service seems to solve the problem for this user.

Problem 2

User was experiencing an issue with simple file searches.  They could not search anything in a particular datasources.  Some datasources return searches and others return the error. ERROR 58152. Search execution error. Either invalid search parameters were passed, or an internal execution error occurred.

Solution

Since the search was working on other datasources, that narrowed the problem down to an issue with the specific datasource itself. User was executing his search with all environments.

Had user do a search using a specific environment and it worked.  This tells us that one of his environments are having an issue.
Had user go do a search with each environment till we found the one that gave the error.
Had user delete the folder that was attached to that environment, then delete the environment
He was then able to do searches with out specifically choosing an environment.

Turning up the server and client logging may have helped us narrow down the problem to a specific attribute with in the troubled environment.  However the user did not have time and the datasource was a test environment.

Cloud Services

Where can I find information about the Cloud Services?

http://communities.bentley.com/communities/other_communities/sign-in_assistance_and_web_services/w/wiki/24305.bentley-cloud-services-overview

Where do I find Information about User Management roles, for managing permissions related to projects (creating, deleting, etc)?

http://communities.bentley.com/communities/other_communities/sign-in_assistance_and_web_services/w/wiki/25124.user-management

Where do I go for help if I have problems with my account used to access the Cloud Services?

Contact your organizations site administrator, if you are unaware of who that is, contact Bentley support (Website Assistance - User Management Team)

How about the external organizations that will be working with me on this project?

We are working on a process to automate getting the organizations online, in the meantime, contact Bentley ProjectWise support  for any help and questions you may have.  More information on how to invite external users below in the settings section.

Enabling ProjectWise Deliverables Management

Where do I start?

First things first, create a CONNECTED Project

Once the project is created, click on the Deliverables Management tile, and select "Turn on"

If you are not given the option to turn on, follow the instructions on the page, or contact your account manager to enable the Cloud Services for your organization

What ports need to be opened on my firewall?

Addresses and ports that have to be made accessible through firewall in order to be able to use PWDM:
- Bentley CONNECT portal https://connect.bentley.com (port 80 & 443)
- EULA agreement service https://connect-agreement.bentley.com (port 443)
- PWDM web client UI/portal https://connect-btsportal.bentley.com (port 443)
- PWDM back end service/server https://connect-bts.bentley.com (port 443)
- Azure cloud storage for PWDM https://btsprodsa01.blob.core.windows.net (port 443)

In addition, see the following regarding the firewall requirements for the CONNECTION Client (when using PWDM Integrated with PW Explorer)

http://communities.bentley.com/communities/other_communities/sign-in_assistance_and_web_services/w/wiki/23899.connection-client-faq

Integrating with ProjectWise Design Integration

What do I need to integrate Deliverables Management with a project in my existing ProjectWise Datasource?

You will need to install the PWDM Connector for ProjectWise Explorer.  See the following link for details

http://communities.bentley.com/products/projectwise/content_management/f/343469/t/117142

Is there a server side install?

No, nothing needs to be installed on your ProjectWise Integration Server

How do I associate a ProjectWise Design Integration Project with a CONNECTED Project?

In a ProjectWise project (not a standard folder) the properties window will have a CONNECTED project tab.  Here you can associate/change/remove a CONNECTED project.

Can I allow for my ProjectWise attributes automatically populated in a submitted document?

Yes! See this post for more information:

http://communities.bentley.com/products/projectwise/content_management/w/wiki/27899.integrating-projectwise-deliverables-management-with-projectwise-design-integration-attributes

Why do I not see the "Deliverables Management" node under my project?

Make sure the PWDM Connector for ProjectWise Explorer is installed.  Also, verify the project is associated with a CONNECTED project, that CONNECTED project has Deliverables Management turned on.

What if I am currently using Bentley Transmittal Services v1.0?

There is not currently an upgrade path available from BTS to PWDM, however, you can use both versions side by side on the same project during the transition.

http://communities.bentley.com/products/projectwise/content_management/b/weblog/archive/2016/02/29/did-you-know-you-can-run-bentley-transmittal-services-and-projectwise-deliverables-management-on-the-same-project

Deliverables Management Settings

Where do I configure the PWDM settings?

The majority of the settings are found in the web portal for the project, browse to the CONNECTED project, click the Deliverables Management tile, the settings button can be found in the upper right corner.

The exception is when you are using PWDM integrated with PW Design Integration.  The settings associated with PWDI can be found in PW Explorer, right click on the Deliverables Management Node and select settings.

What happens when I invite an external participant?

The individual will receive an email, prompting them to accept or reject the invitation to work on the project.  Accepting the invitation will direct them to create a location within their organization to access the packages for that project.

See this document for the detailed workflow of inviting an external organization  http://communities.bentley.com/products/projectwise/content_management/m/mediagallery/271500

What are the Submittal attribute mappings labeled as "coming soon"?

Currently, any attributes you wish to be available to an external participant when they send you a submittal will work as described in the above section regarding ProjectWise integration, however what this upcoming feature will allow is for cases when a submittal is received with an attribute unknown to you.  This will allow you to map this value to one of your existing attributes.

Other

Why can I not see the ProjectWise Deliverables Management data in the Project Performance Dashboards?

PWDM is not yet available with the Dashboards, but is coming soon

Where can I find the help file?

Once a project is enabled for Deliverables Management, there is a shortcut to the help file in the upper right hand corner of the Deliverables Management page.  When integrated with ProjectWise Explorer, the help file will be installed with the PWDM Connector for ProjectWise Explorer, which contains the additional information specific to PW Explorer.

Otherwise try stopping and restarting the integration server service

Also check to see if the user currently has any files checked out to them, free those files and try the delete again
