Problem Description

User is in the Projectwise administrator looking at document processors \ File Properties \ Property sets and there are two property sets that have strange names. Example: ISebiesnrMkudrfcoIaamtykdDa

In ProjectWise Explorer under the file properties of a file, one of the strange names appears.

Can the property and or property set be deleted, hidden or renamed so it looks more informational.

Reason

(if running) Projectwise Document processor \ File properties will extract any file property it finds.  If a name is not provided for the property set or file property from with in the file, then Projectwise will create the "strange name".  You can change the name because Projectwise tracks the file property sets and file properites via an assigned GUID.

You cannot delete the properties and Property sets once they have a value set for a file.

Steps to Resolve

Option 1 Rename the Property set and Properties

  1. In projectwise administrator go to Document Processors \ File Property Extraction \ Property sets

  2. Right click on the strange name and choose Properites.

  3. Under Display name, rename to something more informational.

  4. Click on the Property set to see the list of properites.

  5. If they are something that you want to keep, then do nothing.

  6. If the property needs to be renamed, simply double click and changed the display name for each property.

Option 2 Hide and do not extract the property

  1. In projectwise administrator go to Document Processors \ File Property Extraction \ Property sets

  2. Click on the Property set to see the list of properites.

  3. Double click each property and check the boxes for "Hidden" and "Do not extract".  You will need to hide each property in a property set in order for it to not show in Projectwise Explorer.
