Configure a Caching Server to a hosted environment

The following describes how to configure a new temporary caching server, in its simplest form. This will be applicable to most users that have their Integration Server hosted by Bentley.

If you don’t already know the PW Integration Server and Datasource name, open ProjectWise Explorer and log in. Look in the address bar for pw:\\servername.bentley.com:datasource

1. Install ProjectWise Gateway Server
2. Open the dmskrnl.cfg file in notepad (default location C:\program files\bentley\projectwise\bin)
3. Update the file with the following information, in the appropriate location

FileTransferSrv=1                                                          {this line is already in the file, remove ; if there is one}

ConnectionSrv=1                                                            {this line is already in the file, remove ; if there is one}

[Gateway]                             {this line is already in the file, find it and enter the appropriate entry below}

Servername.bentley.com=yourservername.com

[Routing]                                {this line is already in the file, find it and enter the appropriate entry below}

Servername.bentley.com=5800

[cache]                              {this line is already in the file, find it and enter the appropriate entries below}

enabled=true

storagepath=c:\cache                                     {set this to the path on your server to store the cached files}

limit=200              {set this to the max size (in megabytes) of the cache before oldest files start purging}

4. On the machines running ProjectWise Explorer, open the PW Network Configuration Tool (found in the control panel or in the tools menu within ProjectWise Explorer)

5. In the DNS Services tab add an entry for your local caching server. Leave Datasource tab as is (directly to the Integration Server)
