Password:
Validate Password:

error dialog shows:
Credentials failed validation test with error.
Message: Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer

This test may not accurately replicate what the service control manager does. If you feel your credentials are accurate choose the Ignore button.

The Abort button will exit the installer.

Solution

Navigate to Administrative Tools --> Local Security Settings -->Expand Local Policies --> User Rights Assignment and scroll down to log on as service. Make sure the user you are typing in the credential windows has rights to 'Log on as service'. Add the user to the list and you will not see this message again.

This is also mentioned in the V8i Implementation Guide(Located in the Server Install Folder) 2-4 steps 3 & 4.
3. Make sure this account is a Windows account that is a member
of the Administrator group.
4. Make sure this account also has “log on as a service” rights.

Problem

Export dwg out of Revit > Export current view is OK, but .
After Export command, gets PW dialog box > Cancel > hoping for second dialog box  to come up for Windows Explorer > flashes just for a second thern disappears - get in endless loop back to export views.

Solution

This is an AutoCAD workflow that is not supported in ProjectWise, however ProjectWise SS4 has a feature that will allow easy toggling of ProjectWise \Revit integration at the top menu. ProjectWise SS4 has a top menu > Bentley drop down menu that can  present and keep up a ProjectWise Revit  Integration Enable or
Disable toggle button. If you try to open a Revit dwg in ProjectWise and Revit is not set to the “Integrated State” you are presented with
a very visible message box stating that you are not integrated with ProjectWise and will not open the Revit file in ProjectWise until you are.
When integration with ProjectWise is turned off, you will be able to export multiple sheets in the list > Next button > at the bottom of the
Select Folder dialog box, you will be presented with a button for “Export to Disk” and you get Windows Explorer and no ProjectWise login box

Incorrect / wrong serial number is generated in document code

 Applies To

 Product(s):ProjectWise Explorer Client
 Version(s):All
 Environment: Windows 7 64 bit
 Area: Document Code
 Subarea:
Original Author:Arturas Zidonis, Bentley Technical Support Group

Background

Generated serial number in document code is wrong. If document code is generated automatically e.g. AZ-EOB-001; AZ-EOB-002; AZ-EOB-003; AZ-EOB-004… and someone creates new document and manually sets serial number e.g. 300 then document is created with this document code 'AZ-EOB-300'. Since then, each document that has been added further continues from this point 300, 301, 302..

Steps to Accomplish

Option 1 Search and delete documents with incorrect serial number

1. Use Search Form in ProjectWise Explorer to search all documents that have incorrect document code e.g. 'AZ-EOB-3*'.

2. Export those documents with incorrect document code to local drive (so you could import them later with the correct document code).

3. Delete those documents.

Problem Description

When user is trying to install PW Explorer he is getting "Internal Error 2738"

Solution

This is an OS issue.
Vista for some reason doesn't register VBScript. What you have to do is first of all find where vbscript.dll is. It may be found in C:\Windows\System32. Next go to start -> accessories and the right click on command prompt and click "run as administrator".  Type "cd C:\Windows\System32" (replace the dir if its differnt for you) and then type "regsvr32 vbscript.dll". It should then confirm that vbscript has been registered and everything should work.
http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=19110

In this one particular user's case he tried to register the vbscript.dll and that did not resolve the install issue, so he opted to install Projectwise SS3 version  which did install successfully on the OS.

Error or Warning Message

Last Error [56037] Error creating a new view.  View with the same name already exists.

Explanation

User is getting an error when creating a new personal view.
It seems to work but once they refresh, the view is not shown in the view pull down. User tries again to create the same view with the same name and gets the error. It appears the view is created but they aren't showing.

The 56037 error message you are getting is indicating there is already a view with the same name. I think the real problem here is that your views are disappearing. The disappearing view may be attributed to Project folders.

How to Avoid

Step 1 Add the view to the resources of the Project Folder

  1. If you are in a project folder and the view you just created is not part of the ‘resources’ for that project, then you will not see your view in the pull down.

  2. Right click on the parent project folder and choose properties, then resources, If you are have the correct permissions and user settings you can then add your view to the resources.

Step 2 Settings and permissions

  1. If there are permissions set on the project folder, the User must be a 'team participant' and have the "project Team member" role to change resources.  Right click the Project Folder, properties, Participants, and make sure the role for the group or user is set to "Project Team Member" or higher.

  2. A user has to have the proper user setting turned on in order to change project settings

In Projectwise Administrator, Right click the user name, go to properties, settings tab, all the way at the bottom is Project Permissions.  To be able to add views to a project resource, user needs the “allow user to change project types and project properties.

  • Make sure you have the right configuration here - if there are concrete views selected, then newly created views won't be visible. You can add particular view by clicking on 'Add...'. If you do not want to restrict the views in this project, click 'Inherit' and all the views created will be visible for selection.

Security Block error when clicking on ProjectWise link out of pdf file

Error or Warning Message

Security Block

Acrobat does not allow connection to:

pw://servername:datasource/Documents/folder/document.dgn

Explanation

Saving a URN or URL link into a Word document, then saving as pdf.  The link will work from the Word document, but the error occurs when clicking on the link in the pdf.  Starting in Acrobat X, Adobe started enforcing more strict URL checking.   Adobe is expecting that servername:datasource is actually hostname:port number.  Since ProjectWise links are not in a standard URL format, and there is text not a numeric value after the colon, the error will occur and not open the link.

Performance issue opening AutoCAD Civil 3D document from ProjectWise

 Environment: N/A
 Area: Integration - Civil 3D

Original Author:Mantas Nauseda, Bentley Technical Support Group

Problem Description

It takes really long time to open AutoCAD Civil 3D drawing from ProjectWise.

Reason

It takes quite a lot of time to load the data shortcuts from ProjectWise when using the ProjectWise Caching server to connect to the datasource – ProjectWise needs to load the file to the caching server first and then pass it to the user.

It seems that there are some issues in the ProjectWise 08.11.11.111 with this operation.

Steps to Resolve

There were some improvements in the ProjectWise performance in SS4 RU (version 08.11.11.559).

To resolve the issue you should upgrade the ProjectWise Explorer to the SS4 RU version.
